G,day!
My name is John raspe and I live in Adelaide South Australia
I know its 38 years ago but some of us Viet vets may still have photos. I was proudly on board the Australian Daring Class Destroyer “HMAS Vendetta 08” during 69/70 Vietnam era "Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club". We did "RAS" Replenishment At Sea a few times with USS MARS between Sept 1969 / Mar 1970. I would like to ask if any of you took any photos of the “HMAS Vendetta 08” or you know someone else that may have taken photos of her during that time. Please if you
wish, contact me here or at veteran08nam@adam.com.au

PS: Did any of you, ever do shore patrol "SP" in Subic during your years in the Navy? If so I would like to communicate with you at the above email address… or you may know of someone that did, please give them my email address so as they may contact me privately

Cheers Mate
Looking Fwd... to a email from you

Hi Mate:

Was just reading all the message board postings, which counts for the late reaction. I checked all the pictures I took during Jan 69 to Jan 70. Have U.S. Coast Guard & about every type of ship seen in Nam waters, but do not have any RAN units.

I do remember that we had a great time with some of the Australian Navy's best on the pier behind a Hotel in Manila, when the Mars had a port call there. Singing & drink, with a number of swim calls by throwing each other in to the Manila Bay. Had almost forgot about that little bit of fun, that up set the folk in the Grand Hotel.

The pictures taken by the Chief Radarman have yet not been accounted for, they were classed as Offical Navy Photo's.
