In tune with Chuck Jones article in The SupplyLine Issue 31 page eight. If you happen to meet a lost Martian, you can hand them this Business Card that you can download and print out for your own. It is a two sided PDF format form. Business Card Front

From: Frank Springer To: webmaster-ussmars@comcast.net Sent: Tue, May 17, 2011 5:01:25 PM Subject: Mars Bell Tended yesterday Hi--- I am the cousin of Dennis Best - DK-2 1970-1972- We Tended the Bell from the USS Mars that is now sitting in the Mars, Pennsylvania town center --- It was in rather bad shape and someone had sprayed it over with lacquer that had gone south! We went to the hardware store in town and got the supplies to get it into much better "ship shape" While we were there-- Many--- of the townspeople came buy and commented, saying very good things. I am wondering if you would wish for me to post two photos--- before/after of the work we had completed on the bell. It should make every 'Mars' sailor or Officer proud of how it looks again.

This comes as a great surprise and I am very happy that Frank & Dennis stepped up to the plate and cleaned our Ship's Bell. What a very nice job they did in Mars PA on May 16th 2011. Yes Frank & Dennis, the people of Mars are very nice folk. I hope that while you were there you had a "Mars Burger" over at Suzie Q's. Please send Frank & Dennis an email showing them how much you appreciate their hard work. I have their email links above.

Congratulations the Mars Site was just presented with this Patriotic Web Site Award by the VA Home Loans. I have placed it on different pages around our site. They especially liked our Cruise Book page and all of the photo albums of our reunions. The link to their site has been removed. If you care to visit them please go to www.vahomeloans.net

My Father served on the USS Mars from 67-68 and I am trying to find out if he ever was on shore in Veitnam. Letters that he sent home mentioned about river patrol duty. A friend of his was killed in an explosion. If you knew my father and can give me any information I would appreciate you contacting me by email.

Two things I wish to bring to your attention:
Along with our Bell being in the city of Mars,PA the oil painting which was in my house before the 2008 reunion took place, is now in the VFW Post 7505 on Evans City Rd leaving Mars PA. This information is also located on the Home Page of this site. I took several pictures of the painting while I had it here in my home and I have placed the best picture on our home page.
I had a request to place names by each picture on the web site. If I do that I would need signed contracts from everyone in the picture. I am not sure how that would be done and if I would care to do this, is another question. Our current operation is with in our privacy policy. ----------

I have moved the entire crew listing off this server to another server which give me 2gig of free space. The crew list page is link to those files and the only difference you will notice is that the files are in a PDF format now. This will give you the ability to search for a name to see the status of that former crew member. This will free up more space on the Mars server for pictures and other files. The new server space is called Dropbox and Ken Stewart, Chuck Jones and myself are signed on to it and we can share and edit files at any moment. Ken's new page which will be premiering in 2012 will utilize this space as well for his files need to document boot on the ground. Keep coming back for things are changing from day to day with the way your site is communicating with it's members.
